Feel the Steel

Writen By: Harrison/Saxton

Feel the Steel was another quick hybrid song, the music was written by Headstrong but the lyrics were written, but never used, in 1983 when Dean was still in Stella. For quite a while the song was the second song in the set, started immediately after the opening song, with Dean talking to the audience over the top of the opening chords to keep the gig moving along. You can hear an example of this on the Days of Darkness live section with a version recorded at the Ilkeston Wine Vaults on the 27th of June 1989.

Around midnight it's always the same
See the pretty girls all out on the game
You know thay ain't too tame
Seeking fame of fortune the luck of the draw
No-one's gonna help them when they're out of the door
There ain't a thing so sure

You wouldn't want to see me even if you could
Because my trademark is written in blood

It won't be long before you feel the steel
That line of silver against the moon
Look over your shoulder and you'll see I'm real
And then you'll sing my favourite tune
When I hear you scream

Hiding in the shadows I chase them around
Watch their eyes trying hard to locate the sound
But I'm staying close to the ground
But they'll never see me until it's too late
Then the only thing you'll see is full of blind hate
I'm the guardian of their fate

You wouldn't want to see me even if you could
Because my trademark is written in blood

It won't be long before you feel the steel
That line of silver against the moon
Look over your shoulder and you'll see I'm real
And then you'll sing my favourite tune
When I hear you scream

Feel the Steel

Then they'll have to find me and track me down
Find my seedy den in this here dirt water town
That's where I've gone to ground
But I don't think prison life is good for my health
So it's time for me to turn the steel on myself
And put an end to the stealth

You wouldn't want to see me even if you could
Because my trademark is written in blood
It won't be long before you feel the steel
That line of silver against the moon
Look over your shoulder and you'll see I'm real
And then you'll sing my favourite tune
When I hear you scream

So now it's time for me to feel the steel
That line of silver against the moon
Now the whole world out there can see I'm real
Now my career of crime is doomed
Now you'll hear me scream
