Take a Look Outside

Writen By: Gilbert/Harrison/Morley/Saxton/Timms

This song was written early 1990 and was a contender for inclusion on Head First but didn't make it. Because it didn't make it, it's time in the set was short. Once Head First was released the set was virtually fixed at the 4 Days of Darkness songs, 9 Head First songs, a couple of covers and Love Em and Leave Em, leaving no room for any other songs. The song however did often find itself put in the encore ahead of Love Em and Leave Em, to make them wait a bit longer for the big Crowd Pleaser. The version on Days of Darkness was recorded at The Rocket, Basford on 18th September 1990.

Have you ever noticed how the story never ends
Living out a tragedy with actors played by friends
Always on the look out for some new romantic part
Ignore the script of live you just play it from the heart

You know and I know you could take the lead role
But you shut yourself away until you see an open goal

Looking to the future you look through your crystal ball
See the road to fortune hear the flight of conscience call
You don't think you'll get there you think you'll be left behind
But the barriers that stop you are the walls inside your mind

You know and I know you could take the lead role
But you shut yourself away until you see an open goal

The clouds have never looked so grey
Take a look outside and chase them away

The clouds have never looked so grey
Take a look outside and chase them away

Chasing after quarry who are wild and on the run
Never want to catch them you just want to have some fun
But you never see the fence until it is too late
When the pride before the fall turns to deep and bitter hate

You know and I know you could take the lead role
But you shut yourself away until you see an open goal

The clouds have never looked so grey
Take a look outside and chase them away
