The Flame of Life and Death Writen By: Gilbert/Harrison/Morley/Saxton/Timms |
A strange song title, with an unusual inspiration. The biggest bang on Dean and Jackie's honeymoon (OK the second biggest) was one morning in Las Vegas, Nevada when they were both woken by a Nuclear bomb test out in the desert. This was the first epic to be written by Steve and shows as a different style from the other studio songs on Head First.
Since the dawn of time
Man has played with fire
To keep the wolf from the cavern's door
To fuel their soul's desire
The flame became the gift of life
But then it joined the fight
The leader of all men emerged
As the one who tamed the night
But there's nowhere left to run
From the heart of a man made sun
Forces running wild
When you play with fire
Man moves on and on
And so too does the flame
Becomes a symbol carried high
The fire burns through the game
But man moved on to atomic age
The fire screams out with Hell born rage
The flame that puts and end to heroes
Nothing lives around ground zero
But there's nowhere left to run
From the heart of a man made sun
Forces running wild
When you play with fire
Since the dawn of time
Man has played with fire
But now the wolf howls from within
The victim of desire
But there's nowhere left to run
From the heart of a man made sun
Takes away your breath
The flame of life and death
